Checklist for Leads

Assignment: Think of 7 events from your lifetime and write a lede for a story about this event or experience. Think of memorable vacations, birthdays, school experiences, happy times, sad times – anything that is a memorable experience for you. Getting your driver’s license; Going to Hawaii, Getting a new puppy; Winning a big award; Meeting your best friend; Getting on television – it’s up to you.

Take a few minutes to think about your experiences and draft your list. Once you have your list, you will write one lede for each as you will have 7 total (different) ledes.

Remember, you must write the lede in third person. Each lede must be 35 words or less, 1-2 sentences. Nothing more, but it can be less. Just get the best use out of your space. Meaning, I want more than “Let’s talk about [insert topic]” and leaving it at that.

DEADLINE: End of class Thursday, March 27. Save to folder on Google Drive.
